Past & Present PTA Members Invited to Celebrate Founders Day on Feb. 16th

The Pleasanton PTA Council will be celebrating the founding of PTA over 109 years ago, with a luncheon celebration at Castlewood Country Club on Thursday, February 16th at 11:30 a.m.  “All past and present PTA members in the community to join us for this wonderful event,” explains Pleasanton PTA Council President, Debbie Look. “We are pleased to be hosting this event at Castlewood, originally the home of Phoebe Apperson Hearst, one of the original founders of PTA.” Co-hosts for the event are the members of the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Elementary School PTA.

The keynote speaker will be Delaine Eastin, currently a Visiting Professor of Education at Mills College and a former California Superintendent of Public Instruction.  Guests will be entertained by the Amador Valley High School string ensemble and will have the opportunity to view a display of items representing Phoebe Apperson Hearst, courtesy of the Museum on Main Street.

We will be recognizing all of the deserving PTA volunteers in our community and will present Honorary Service Awards to individuals who have shown tremendous commitment to the PTA and to the children of our community and beyond.  Past recipients of this award include School Board Member Juanita Haugen, Superintendent John Casey, retired Public Information Officer for PUSD Jerri Long and PTA members Jill Buck and Tanya Ludden. We will also be honoring our valued sponsors that support the work we are doing on behalf of children and youth.

For more information, or to reserve tickets at $15 per person for the luncheon, please contact the PTA Council office at (925) 846-3257 or information@pleasantonpta.org.
