Pleasanton PTA Council Sets Goals to Benefit Children

The Pleasanton PTA Council is redoubling efforts on current priorities and taking on new goals in its second full year of operation.  The Council will continue its advocacy efforts, locally as well as in Sacramento and Washington, on behalf of all our children and work on specific projects to improve health, safety and ecological conditions.  This year the Council will increase its focus on growing multi-cultural outreach in the schools, providing greater support to local PTA and Parent Clubs, and promoting volunteerism in our community.

Several sponsors have already pledged to assist the Council in working for the benefit of our youth.  A generous contribution by Ponderosa Homes will allow for the purchase of parent education resources.   Another contribution came to us through an interesting route; Rob Squires won a prize in the “Build Your Own PC” race at the Comdex Computer Convention that he then donated to the Council.  We would like to thank him and convention sponsors, Tiger Direct and AMD.  We also very much appreciate donations by Wells Fargo and Bank of Walnut Creek.

President Debbie Look heads the 2004/2005 PTA Council and handles Legislative Affairs.  Tanya Ludden, also President of the Amador Valley High School PTSA, serves as Executive Vice President.  The four Vice Presidents include Vicky Reinke, Student Community Services; Suzanne Young, Fundraising; Jamie Hintzke, Educational and Health Services; and Mary Holmberg, Communication.  Margaret Steele has signed on as Secretary; Cherub Halperin as Treasurer; Sally Dickinson as Auditor; Julie DeFord as Historian and Membership; and Mary Anne Lindahl as Parliamentarian.  This dynamic group that promotes the welfare of our children and our community meets evenings, generally on the first Monday of the month, at the school district offices.  Please check the website www.pleasantonpta.org or call the office 925-846-3257 for specific details.
