Fostering Self-Advocacy for Students with Special Needs
Presenter: Todd Gary, Special Education Advocacy Group
Wednesday, December 13, 2017
Pleasanton Middle School, School Library
5001 Case Avenue, Pleasanton
Advocate Todd Gary will challenge us to foster self-advocacy in our children. This high-energy presentation will provide us with powerful tools to examine our parenting and its impact, and empower us to release the potential of our amazing kids. We’ll explore the importance of self-knowledge, how to raise an “I can” child, distinguishing between product and outcome, fostering internal identity, tackling the crippling fear of failure, and the ultimate celebration (and terror) of letting go. Fun, fear and controversy is guaranteed!
Todd Gary is the founder of the Special Education Advocacy Group in Danville, the former Special Needs Liaison in SRVUSD, long-time scout leader, and the disciple of two amazing young men in their second decade of raising their father.
