Property Tax

Your Alameda County Property Tax bill is likely a familiar document. For Pleasanton residents, your tax rate for 2022-23 should be 1.1390%. And congratulations, you are paying one of the lowest property tax rates in all of Alameda County.

The graph below shows the tax rates of Pleasanton and select neighboring cities. It can be seen that even if Measure I were to pass, Pleasanton's property tax rate would still remain lower than many of our neighboring cities. For those interested, all of the property tax rates can be found via the County's rate book.

It is also noteworthy that the base tax rate has remained at 1% since 1978 because of Prop 13. Additional property taxes, such as bonds or parcel taxes, must be voter approved.
